The head of the Liberal Party, and former Colombian President César Gaviria, said he is willing to publicly debate the alleged alliance between his Government and the "Pepes" (Persecuted by Pablo Escobar).
Gaviria responded to accusations made by President Alvaro Uribe last week, in which he asked Gaviria to explain alleged ties to the illegal organization.
"President Uribe does not speak with proof. If he has it, let him show it." Meanwhile, the Alternative Democratic Pole reaffirmed its decision to remain distanced from the political and judicial reform processes, as long as the debate is led by Minister of the Interior, Fabio Valencia.
Liberals decided to take part in the debate, but will assume a position against the Government.
