The House of Representatives sank the political reform article that sought to enable the reelection of the current president in 2014.
Although the pro-government group had asked for the removal of controversial article 19 from the political reform, it was put to a vote at the last minute and rejected 75 to 40.
After an intense debate, the entire House approved the exclusion of the article from the text, which would have allowed Colombia's President a third term, after a 4 year break.
