Hosam Dwayyat, a 30-year-old Palestinian construction worker drove his 20 ton digger through traffic hitting buses, cars and pedestrians; in one of the busiest streets in Jerusalem.
Before being shot dead by a civilian, he killed three people and injured 40. The spokesman for the Israeli Government Mark Regev said that there was no motive for this violent act. Mahmoud Abbas, adviser of the Palestinian President, qualified it as an attempt to ruin peace negotiations.
Authorities are investigating if Dwayyat acted alone.
